Stevens Model 311A query

Hi all
I have a Stevens 311A in 12 guage from my dad and I noticed while shooting skeet that the shells don't extract automatically. My dad bought it new from Eatons in the late '50s and he said that it never did, is this normal for one of these SxS's?

Yep -- non ejector gun. Some prefer extractor guns for the field -- don't leave spent hulls laying around. Green up ya know.

The piece that removes the case from the chamber, if it one piece and removes both shells or hulls at once then it is an extractor. If it is split down the middle and removes the hulls individually then it is an ejector.
