steyer pro hunter

I got one in 25-06 at Wholesale Sports about a year ago, but I don't know if it is regularily stocked or not.

What do I think of it? Well, I didn't like the springy stock much so I bedded a chunk of oak into the forend with Devcon. Looks are certainly subjective, but its hard to pretend its pretty.
How does it shoot? Well, it just might be the best out of the box shooter I ever owned. I've shot so many 1/2" groups at 200 yards that I don't see any sense in wasteing barrel doing it again and again.

Speaking of barrels, changeing one promises to be a nightmare.

PR above does stock some, other than that its hit and miss, and AFAIK no one stocks Voere in Canada, but they can be inported, as FN Nichols is thier importer (I think).
The Steyrs are quite nice, and can be had in a variety of stock finishes etc, as well as a few bolt on goodies. I for one like the stock, but some people dont, YMMV.

I have had the pro hunter in .308 for over 10 years. It is very accurate and very comfortable to shoot. The recoil reduction from the stock is amazing. It is the one never sell gun in my collection.

I've got one in .280 rem. and it is quite accurate with winchester supreme and hornady sst ammunition. Some of the pros and cons in my experiences are:

PROs
-Accurate (mine and I hear the same from others)
-Trigger (adjustable for travel and weight of pull)
-Mannox Coating (very tough in my experience, no rust or scratches and I have pushed my way through the bush with it)
-Comfortable (stock desighn is comfortable to shoot, in my opinion)
-Barrel (I get many comments and questions on the outside spiraling of the barrel, not a big plus but it looks good none the less)

Cons
- Stock (yes, the forend does flex and can touch the barrel, how much this affects accuracy I'm not sure, I haven't experimented with it)
-Sling Studs (mine has the flush mount detachable studs and makes it impossible to mount a bi-pod if you wanted to, although I have seen some with the regular studs)
-Action (on my rifle the bolt upon opening and closing is very stiff, however sliding the bolt back and forth is very smooth)

Anyway, these are my experiences with my rifle hope it helps you out,

I have a Pro Hunter in 6.5x55 and it is a great shooter, a bud of mine in Ft St John had one in a 300 and he thought it was the most accurate off the shelf rifle you could buy. FS
