I shot my new rifle for the first time yesterday. Filmed every shot. This rifle is amazing. Recoil is very modest. The muzzle brake sure makes a difference. My other .50 weighs in about 10 pounds heavier and is nowhere near as pleasant to shoot. I have been trying to figure out what scope to put on it and could not come to a decision. I have a Fitco 8 to something or other that was screwed out of the box and could not go back so I put it on. My own thumbfingered mounting and six shots later at 100 meters the scope is on the bull and still on the rifle and it still has what passes for cross hairs. Any suggestions as to what I should put on the unit when I stop laughing and get serious. I am leaning toward a Night Force or a Leupold. One of these days I hope to have both my rifles and both my M2's side by side on the same range. I know "Dreaming". But it sure would be nice.

More to follow.

Leupold Mark 4 M1 fixed power all the way. Near indestructible, huge MOA range (double the vertical adjustment of the variable power Mark 4's). I have one on my long range 7mm in 16X, and love it, I had a second til recently on another rifle, they are fantastic. Less to break in a fixed power, and perfectly suited to a .50.

I've shot a lot of 50cal. living Calgary and being friends with a guy that builds them and the nightforce is definitely the way to go. 5.5 - 22 with a special set of super-high rings so that you can behind the scope is what you need. The scope has 100moa of elevation which will get you out further then you can see properly see and with the R2 Ret., you'll have 1moa hash marks vertically and 2moa horizontally. The downside of Leupold is mills (3.6" at 100yds) With the Nightforce, when you 4 moa low, you just crank your scope up 4moa or 16clicks. It's just that simple. I did some load developement for a guy that bought a Steyr and though we did have some recommendations for him on his gun, it wasn't bad to shoot. We also found a load that worked quite well and he's a happy camper. Let me know if you need any more info on your new purchase.

If you can afford to feed a couple of 50's, go for a Nightforce NSX or even their BR scope and go for the option of as much power as you can get. I suspect you aren't going to be plinking at 1-200 yards, so get the right tool for the job. Better to have too much power than too little when you want it, and while I love fixed power scopes, the option of dialing back in heavy mirage (like with the types of distances you'll be using a 50 for?) is always nice too.

.50 scope

hi.
if i was you i would spend the extra and go with the night force , i just had a custom .50 build and put a 8-32x56 night force on it , needless to say the scope is awesome
