So I sent off my slide to have a "Glock-Like" finish applied from Armacoat... I think it looks great. The original finish was a scratchy looking parkerizing.

I also installed some PT Night sights as the trap sights were just so-so and it seemed to be the only complaint anyone ever had with the pistol (you liked em or hated em). Now no one can complain ;)

All in all I think this is one of the best .40S&W pistols going right now :)

Enjoy!

I was looking at one of these a while back in 9mm felt good, looked great- my only concern was that it was very light and I thought recoil might be an issue. Any comments on recoil?

Beautiful, just beautiful. I think M40-A1 is the pistol that comes closest to the original intention of Polymer pistols' futuristic design. Glock's designed really didn't succeed all that well, and USP actually is more traditional looking. Steyr seems to have understanding of what 'futuristic' means.

BTW, I heard ppl complaining something about safety within the trigger guard being annoying. What is that about? Care to comment?

Musky Hunter: Thanks :)

RT: Recoil I suppose would be more perceived... but in 9x19 it's not really a big deal. Don't let the lack of weight keep you from getting one. I won't kid you though the 180gr in .40S&W pushes ;)

imagine_74714: Yes, I was one who complained about that... it was in my opinion a flaw in the old design. They included a manual safety within the trigger guard; the problem was that with my old M9 sometimes the safety would engage while shooting - Not Cool. However, the new 'A1' design no longer has it (they abandoned the safety - actually it is an option now but I have yet to see an A1 with safety). It's a very sweet shooting pistol. Thanks by the way... I bought it because I always said as soon as the 'A1' series was available in Canada I was going to get one. ###iest polymer gun ;)

Wolverine managed to get one for me - but I just noticed that P&D in Alberta is showing a M40A1 in stock... might want to jump on it ;)

~Cheers

Unfortunately the only one I have is of it the day I took it out of the box :) It's still fresh so a bit of oil makes it difficult to see the difference. It was much lighter than the frame colour, and smooth flat. Now it is slightly textured and the same black as the frame.
