What is the intended use, casual or competition? Leather holsters are great and they smell great while no plastic can match the looks of a well crafter leather holster. For no heavy duty rig (not many insertions and withdrawals), I think leather is probably a better choice. I use kydex much more often because most of my gun handling these days is during matches and practise. Kydex keeps its shape for ever, does not need any care and I have not seen any effects on the finish of my Sig P226's over ten years of use. After long use, to see some wear at the front edge of the slide is normal, although I have not yet seen any. Not all kydex is equal, Blade Tec makes excellent products and very smooth inside that causes very little friction. Kydex also does not absorb humidity, unlike leather that can rust a gun left in the holster.
