Does anyone know where the 1942 Mauser K98k rifles made by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria rank on the quality scale of the various K98k manufacturers? Also, how did the Wehrmacht soldat use the cleaning rod on the rifle with other gear (chain, jag, patches, etc.) to clean his rifle?

Danke schoen!

Steyr made rifles rank right up there with the best of them. The cleaning rods were dual purpose and were often screwed together for full feed through. Many call them "clearing rods" because they were used for that as well. Maybe even more for clearing than cleaning.
