steyr scout - 5.56 allowed ? WTF is with the scope rings ?

I have a Steyr Scout (tactical) on the way and was curious if 5.56 can be shot or if it is 223 only ? The manual is a big ambiguous and different places on the web have listed one or the other....

Also, any good ways to mount a scope using the supplied rings or should I just buy different rings ? Looking to mount a 1in tubed scope (standard scope, not a scout scope). Do I just push the scope into the "top" half of the rings and just screw it all together ?

You need the Steyr Scout page by Mr.Frog, do a google, he discusses using the original Steyr rings.
Yes you can use 556 if you want.
