Call the Canadain Tire on McLeod Trail in Calgary. They are a Steyr distributor. They sold me mine.

The Shooting Edge also had one hanging on the wall a few weeks back. Not sure if it still there.

Excellent choice BTW. Optics?

Thanks for the beta.

As to optics...you tell me? What have you got on yours and how do you like it?
I've lusted after a Steyr Scout for about a thousand years now and I'm finally close to pulling the trigger!

I have no aversion to turning this thread into a "Show and Tell" about Steyr Scouts! :) Indulge me gentleman...

It used to wear the 2.5X Leupold IER Scout Scope. I used this at the Gunsite course. It's a great scope for anything from 5-200m. But not exceptional for more precise shots or longer distances. Targets can get lost in the reticle. (Remember: the Scout is designed as a "general purpose rifle".)

I've since upgraded to the Nightforce 2.5-10X32mm NSX with a mildot reticle. I really like this scope and would only consider changing it if I can get a 1.5-4 IER Leupold (their newest offering).

Also, here is a link to the best ching-sling maker around: Andy Langlois

I've got 10 round mags. Don't forget, you have to buy the stock/mag housing extension as well. They're OK, but I'd stick with the 5 round mags and see how much you like the rifle before spending $300 on mags and an extension. The 5 rounders won't work once you put the 10 round housing in place.

Also, I'd recommend the stock ammo carrier. Comes in handy when you are practicing loading a single round.

The sights are, well, *backup* sights...

The bipod is also a bit of a gimmick as well. Get a good shooting pack instead. Eberlestock. (If I had to choose between a 10 round setup and a good shooting pack, I'd get the pack every time.)

I ordered a new Steyr Scout in .308 from Wolverine Supplies who will ship it to you anywhere in Canada. I took several months to get in, but it was worth the wait.:)

I have the Steyr Scout in .308 and upgraded the scope to the 1.5-4 IER Leupold Scout Scope with a standard reticle (as opposed the the heavy duplex that is Standard with the 2.5x). It is a great improvement for longer distance shooting.

Got a 308 Scout Steyr( keeping only one) and a 376 Scout Steyr both mounted with S&B scope i have on my have list, that will make it to the EE when Quebec shape up on the LGR... JP.
