I never considered this rifle before, but having spent some time with it now I have changed my tune. Anybody else hunting with the Scout?

I'm curious what kind of groups you're getting with your scout? How many shots and what ammo? Why did you elect not to go with the forward scope mount? Nice rifle btw!

I dislike forward scope mounts, and I didn't want to buy a scope with extended eye relief either. This one shoots ok, MOA with factory ammo.

Butt ugly rifle, IMHO...and one of the most enjoyable, fun-to-shoot guns I've owned. Got mine shortly after they were introduced, fell in love immediately. Have taken Whitetail, Mulie, Antelope, Black Bear and an absolute crapload of coyotes with mine, never found it wanting. Exceptional accuracy, wonderful trigger, outstanding ergonomics. This gun hunts!

You don't need to equip it with a scout scope, it is fully functional and effective when scoped with a standard optic in the traditional location. But it's very easy to experiment with the scout scope concept and have 2 or more optics pre-sighted-in using QD rings. I usually have a scout scope, a red dot and at least one traditional scout ready to go. On both the above hunts, I had an Aimpoint Micro on a QD mount in my pocket just in case. The Scout also has simple but effective fold-down sights incorporated into the top rail. The new Scout II has a full-length pic rail on top instead of the Weaver rail on my old one, which is even more versatile in terms of sighting options.
