I figure these have been around long enough to have been properly evaluated by now, have you guys experienced any issues with them?

How is it getting spare parts?

No complaints. Having only owned Italian shotguns, I've been spoiled in that respect. The rear sight is however rather pointless as a sighting device.

On a side note, I think some American designs puts the fore-end too far forward and I suspect that is a major reason for short-stroking on pump shotguns.

Are you talking about the LPA detachable rear sight or the little integral one?

A long fore end is a definate plus for me, especially since I started shooting from a squared up stance. If I buy one of these I'd probably go with the sliding stock to further shorten the reach to the fore end, as well as bring the rear sight closer to the eye, as peeps tend to work better then.

Yes, I'm talking about the integral rear one. The detachable one raises the height, but I don't like the rail going over the foreend as I like the ability to wrap my thumb over the heat shield in non-firing positions. The integral front one is passable as a belly-button sight on mine.

I attached a short rail section to my integral rear sight suitable for a lightweight sight like a Vortex Venom.

That's a cute little setup, how stable is it?

The Italians kill me because they make nice shotguns, but they don't seem to have much collective experience in actually using tactical shotguns, nor do they seem to be open to user feedback, and their designs reflect that.

That shiny thing is 1/8th dowel pin I drilled the rear sight for, so it has two points of contact and is fully constrained. Plus it's backed up against the rear sight. Yeah, I wouldn't design something from scratch to be held by one screw and one pin, but I think it's fine here. The M4 thread has the clamping load on the order of 1/2 a ton.

How is it with slugs?

I hear slug accuracy is a strong point of these guns.

My STF 12 has been nothing short of spectacular! They are undesputably the nicest Tactical pump action shotguns on the planet. Part support is available, but the shooting edge Calgary is soooooooooo pathetic at getting their stock in. Luckily I've only had to replace one part on the shotgun in the 2 years I've owned it. The choke tube that holds the muzzlebrake on fused to the threads. Had to dig out the vise grips in the field to get it off! Of coarse this ruined the choke.

Did you have choke tube grease on the threads?

If not it might be a good idea in the future, especially on a design with a self tightening muzzle brake.

What configuration is your gun?

NO I didn't ! Lol. Never came across this issue before with other shotguns. It wasn't over tighted, wat actually fused it was powder residue that had built up between the barrel and choke sleeve. After buying the new choke, I thought it'd be wise to antisease the hole thing before installing it again. Now time will tell.

Mine is the "compact" version.... black folder model... The one with the Famea looking butt stock. It's also has the top rail and all that jazz.
