STI Legacy - poor reliability?

I dont have a Legacy, but I do have a STI Trojan 45,and the gun was terribly unreliable the first 500 rds or so.Needed decent mags (Tripp Cobra mags) and a breaking in period and now it shoots great, havent had a jam for a few thousand rounds now,Seems strange that you cant have a high end 1911 shoot reliably out of the box (I cant recall "breaking in " my Beretta 92!),but there you are.Having said that,I really like my Trojan now, although during those first few hundred rounds almost felt like getting rid of it.Could be the same situation with this particular gun.

Hmm, I'm suprised! My own has been a great performer. I like the geometry of the rails. It seems like an efficient way to balance tight with reliable fit.

I've never owned as STI but I've read that many "match grade" 1911's have a slide to frame fit that is so tight that you literally have to wear in the tolerances before you can achieve reliable performance. I'm willing to bet that the slide to frame fit on your 92 is not nearly as tight.
