STI Spartan .45 ACP ...picky eater?

I've been doing some reading about 1911's, and see that ammo choices (mostly bullet shape) can affect reliability. I also recall something about this being more of a problem with older guns rather than modern 1911's.

With a Spartan on the way, I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what it likes to eat, or comments on what they've noted it does not like to eat.

I'm going to be loading my own eventually, but I figure I'll break it in with some factory ammo first.

It was designed to shoot 230g FMJ round nose and you won't have any problems with those. Trunacated cone, and hollow points can cause problems in some pistols, and run fine in others.
The feed ramp on the frame and barrel can be polished which can improve feeding with the problematic bullet designs.

My Spartan feeds 200gr TC SWC lead flawlessly. And anything else it gets fed.

It is also very accurate ands will shoot one hole groups at 10m.

Having had a variety of 1911's over the last 30 years or so I have to say that failures to feed have been an extreme rarity for me. The worst problem were dings in the case mouths caused by the case hitting the ejection port on the way out. Not a problem these days.

With 1911's the old timer advice is to put 200 rounds of full power ball ammo through it before you put anything else through it. I have no idea if it's true, but then I've never had a problem with a 1911 and I've always followed it.
