STI Tactical SS, I must have one

very nice. the current STI prices definitely reflect the low CND unfort. I was eyeing one and in the span of a few weeks the price jumped $600.

Nice gun buy at 2500$ I would put a 1000$ more and buy a Wilson.

That's the age old question isn't it?

How good is good enough and where do you reach the point of diminishing returns in the cost vs value equation.

edit

The other question is, given our dollar, can you buy a Wilson for $3500 or are they all well north of 4K now?

Yes that is an interesting question for sure. Cost v accuracy is the same sort of calculation, and everyone has a different sweet spot. At the top end of the spectrum you are definitely paying for some exclusivity.

In the summer, Wanstalls was selling preorders for Les Baer PIIs with the 1.5" accuracy package for $2400. No doubt those will be up in price now but once you get into the 2-3K range there are some pretty nice options.

You might be a closeted SP-01 Shadow lover, hehe.

I love the 1911 platform and the squared off front end just makes it that much better for me. I agree the shadow is a good looking pistol but since shooting my buddy's STI Perfect 10 last summer I've been a real fan of the STI. I would get a 10mm model like his but I barely use the 10mm pistol I already own because I hate losing brass, with 45auto losing a few pieces of brass doesn't bother me at all. If more power is ever needed I could always run some 45-08 through it or just grab my 44mag :)
