Okay I want a 1911. The thoughts are not to spend an amount to break the bank. I want something with a GOOD frame so I can build up from. I was advised the above.

Honest thoughts. I here all kinds of opinions of going the cheap route but the frames are pretty nasty. I do not want that. I want a good frame and then buy good parts and SLOWLY build into something even greater. I love to tinker and am not scared to. Know nothing about the workings of 1911's but I have a GREAT bunch of IPSC shooters who will help me along the way.

By the way the Trojan was recommended by one of them.

Thanks in advance.

no need to slowly build up the trojan, good to go for ipsc with a few small upgrades (magwell, FO sight, grips). if you want to tinker you might as well go cheaper, a frame is a frame the extra cost in a gun just comes from how nice the internals are, how well fit everything is and how well its finished.

The Trojan is just fine right out of the box. Factory options if you feel that need/want are F/O front sight, ambidextrous safety, hard chrome finish, recoil master and classic division (IPSC) compliant mag well. The ONLY complaint I have with my Trojan is the matt black finish is not very durable.

Sti is good to go as is if you want to tinker and piss with it get a norc or sam

:agree:They know what they are talking about.

If its a frame you are after, I think the Trojan uses a cast version. Not that there is anything wrong with that....but if you are going to dump a bunch of money into it, might want to go forged.

my Trojan in 9 is holding 3.5cm @ 25yds [ 10 shots ], out of the box . my norc 45 holds the same , after many parts & much labour . if you want to play there is nothing wrong with the norc frame & slide , fit & finish are yours .

I put a F/O sight on mine.It is a great shooter, sweet trigger and very accurate.I did a small mod on the guide rod so it would take down like a traditional 1911 but that was about it...Well worth the money...
