Hello gang,

I am thinking of buying a Trojan in 40 SW. I've been looking around EE and it seems that the price hovers around $1800 for a slightly used one. I am just wondering is the price these days ever goes down to something more reasonable like 1200-1400? Has anyone seen the pistol in that price range in the last two years, for example? I understand that since the price of a new pistol doubled in recent years the prices for a used one follow suit but regardless, I would like to know how the prices may fluctuate for this pistol today.

Question for those that may have both an older and newer Trojans. Was the quality of Trojans always high or did it go up over the years? I am getting at perhaps looking for an older (5-10 years old) pistol that could be brought up to specs with a reasonable expenditure?

I have an older Trojan in 40. I'm not sure of exact manufacture date but I bought it used about 8 years ago. I also have a newer Trojan in 40 bought new last year. I do not see a difference in quality. They are both what I would consider mid-grade. Their slide markings are different but that is strictly cosmetic.

I would not hesitate to buy another older Trojan, nor a newer one. I agree the price increase is shocking and arguably unjustified, however it is what it is because the market will bear it.

Great pistols...and yes...the increase in price point was unbelievable...havn’t seen one come up on ee at approaching the old prices for some time...love mine...but not sure it’s a 1800$ firearm..jmho

check our Freedom Ventures.....STI is discontinuing production of all 1911 models replacing them with DVC line.....that is one of the reasons for the price increase......

i think trojans are great guns, but not at the new price.
They have everything you need to compete but i've also seen better value in other brands for $500 cheaper.
If your heart is set i say go for it as you can be confident in it.
If it's for plinking, i'd suggest saving money or saving up for a semi-custom for better value.

One thing about Sti. No matter how bad they're put together or abused, they'll hold their value on name alone.
Disclaimer, i own and love a sti dvc... i don't hate the brand.

Happily take another ‘spartan’ in a different caliber..really isn’t much between the two....except price..and the spartan is really very good..

Fair enough...horses for courses...never found that an issue..but I know we all hold differently..
