I'm thinking of buying an STI Trojan in 9mm as my first Handgun.

I did my Research on different Gun Forums about this Gun and i like what i found out. My only Concern is the Price of around 1200 $ plus Taxes .

The STI Spartan would be only 800 $ plus Taxes . Is it worth to go with the Trojan compared to the Spartan ?

Where would be a good Place to by it from ? I've seen it on 3 different Sites from our Forum Sponsors. At least "Ellwood Epps " i could visit and he does lay away i think.

How much Taxes i have to pay on Guns right now here in Ontario???:nest:

I now lots of Questions but i have Faith in you Guy's

I have a Spartan and its a very nicely built pistol. Very tight, accurate and reliable. I've yet to handle a Trojan so I can't really say whether its worth the extra $. What I don't really care for on the trojan is the flat squared off top of the slide. In regards to taxes, you need to pay the usual pst and gst = 13%.

price-wise, the gun is a one-time cost, whereas the ammo is a recurring cost. only you can determine how much you're willing to allocate to each portion of this sport. if the price of the gun is a concern, is the price of ammo a concern? or will you be shooting it rarely enough that you won't blow through 1,000 rounds ($250) a month?

as to where to buy it from - well, the STI site lists 3 different Canadian places, so i'd say any of those are good. might come down to who has it in stock in the model / caliber you want. i've never dealt with any of them except for one phone call to Epps and they were very friendly. haven't interacted with Freedom yet.

For shooting - Spartan.
Bragging rights, safe queen and load of money to burn - Trojan. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice gun.
Step up - Edge.

For the price difference, go for the Trojan. It is a much nicer gun. Tighter, more accurate, just a nice gun all around. My 9mm Trojan was the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot.

Trojan = money to burn??? It's all relative......

Ask the guys that own Nighthawks and see what they'll tell you.

There's a little over a $400 difference between the two, or looked at another way there's about a 1300 round difference between the two, which is more important to you? As far as dealers go, if you were in the West I'd say go with Armco, but since Freedom Ventures is closer and since they are the importer and have a terrific reputation for service, in my book you can't go wrong with them.
