Hello all , ----just joined this site, and curious if anyone has any comments on STI's Spartan .45. or Taurus Tracker .17 HMR. Glad to be a Canadian , but totally unimpressed that all we can legally do as law abiding citizens is shoot at the range and take our handguns home and vault them. We need to lobby for sporting uses with these firearms, even if just for pest and varmint s , and or protection while in the backcountry.----- Regards Songdog.:agree:

Welcome!!
I've seen a few STI Spartans and my honest opinion I would save up a bit more and buy a STI Trojan. Maybe find a used STI Trojan.

We need to lobby for sporting uses with these firearms, even if just for pest and varmint s , and or protection while in the backcountry.----- Keep that dream alive, but it will not happen, till there is no liberal party.

regarding STI

Thanks for reply tigrr--- Trojan is nice , but what differences over a Spartan? I would personnally get the .40S&W if i got a Trojan, ( not available in Spartan), read a review in one of my magazine's reg. Spartan, it got lots of praise, & very accurate. I shot competition for many years, with a custom .45 and have acquired my Black badge IPSC, no longer compete.and sold that particular gun. Just want to plink now, thats why i was also considering a Taurus .17hmr tracker, not sure i want to load for another cenetfire . I Currently own a.357 blackhawk stainless 6.5" and Mk III ruger .22 . A 17 hmr in a revolver would be neat, i've read 1900fps from a 6.5" barrel. Not sure i want to spend 1300+ $$$ on a trojan to shoot paper or steel. What did'nt you like about the Spartan?----Songdog/ Cypress County Alberta.:)

My brand new Spartan landed at the door yesterday - thanks ARMCO. :D
Took out my Norinco 1911 and compared the two for finish, feel, balance, everything but shooting as the wife frowns upon it in the basement. :(
The Norinco is nice but the Spartan is beautiful, I can hardly wait until range day.

Spartan .45acp here, great gun, smooth, crisp trigger, well built, reliable.
I did swap factory main spring for 17# and recoil for 14# thou. and got extended mag release with button. Oh, and just replaced FO rod with brighter red-pink one (1.5mm) last night :D

If you plan on shooting factory ammo only, don't swap recoil for 14# like I did as it'll panish the gun, or otherwise use buffers. For light target loads 14# is good :D

I just got an sti Spartan from Armco. Absolutely amazing. Yes there are prettier, or ones with slightly lighter triggers but I can put 20 shots at 20 yards in a 3" or smaller group. I haven't managed that with my s&w 52-2 or 686. It is soooo forgiving. For $819 you'd be a moron not to buy at least one.

You could spend another 1800 on an edge but that 1800 bucks will probably only buy you half an inch.

I love mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spartan V/S Dan wesson razorback heritage..45

Thanks for all the replies folks, just wondrin if anyone has feedback on Dan Wessons Razorback and how they would compare to the Spartan. Although DW's are around 1150.00$ v/s 820.00$. Also does anyone know or has heard any feedback about Kodiak Outpost Inc. for legitimacy, they sound like a home based gun dealer to me, anyone know of any scams with them, just curious, as they require payment first before transfer commences, i think the transfer should be initiated first, and then confirm with the CFO's , and once it's begun, then the funds are transfered, you can't be too sure!---- Songdog--Alberta.

I don't know of any retailer or individual that would transfer a firearm out of their possession prior to being paid. That would be simply stupid.

someone asked me exactly that for my ruger blackhawk, and then proceeded to say I'm the one who's fishy:mad:

additionally;
love my spartan :)
