Hello CGN,

I recently purchased a cooey ranger and thought the action was stiff due to improper cleaning. I took the firearm apart and cleaned it thoroughly but it's still pretty stiff.
Anyone have some advice on what to do or how to remedy this?

Much appreciated!

It's a peculiar action to begin with, and every tube-fed Cooey I've tried feels more or less the same. I recently gifted my 600 to someone (PAL holder, calm down :) ) who will use it as a game-getter...vs a life as a safe queen if I kept it. Part, but not all of the reason had to do with not really digging the bolt-cycling-effort...and that gun was in super/like-new condition.

Try removing the stock - slightly back off the rear loop screw, reassemble see how that is..
(assuming all is clean & lightly lubed - keeping in mind not to over lubricate as it can give dirt & other crap a place to adhere to which can easily gum up your action)

Try loosening the barrel screw/thumbscrew under the forearm. If these are tightened too much they often bind things up.

what he said..............just a tip the COOEY 39 will shoot just as well .less weight . and trouble free. yes it is a single shot but i can reload it just as fast ..my mod 39 below ..
