With the Canadian dollar sagging back, does it still make sense to
order optics from the USA?

The deals on Camera Land Inc. appeal to me and I would like to
support a site sponsor. However I wonder about the costs of the exchange, shipping, duty, etc.

Any thoughts?

It probably would make sense but, they won't send scopes, so unless your talking about binos or some such.....I'd shop around.

Last year I got demo Zeiss Victory TFL binos and demo 65 Diaskope from them.
Shipping I think was about +/- $20 to BC.On demo( used ) models you do not pay duty even though it was manufactured somewhere else.I got them when CAD $ was at par with USA $.Demo models are as brand new, you will not know the difference.
They are very good to deal with.

I have been shopping. U.S. prices when factoring in the depreciated looney, is not worth it. Especially if you require an export licence to birng it in. Help our economy, buy Canadian whenever possible.

I travel the US every week and I'm not buying anything there at the moment. It's cheaper to buy in Canada. There have been price increases in the US that haven't hit Canada just yet. Most gun related items are actually more expensive there. Add the exchange and you pay even more. Add shipping export/import hassle. Why bother? The US economy is in the crapper ATM and since the last election the guns and related items are sold out creating a high demand, low supply situation that drove the prices up.

We'll see the price increases creep up here soon, I'm sure of it.
