I just received my and Tango Kilo's TAC 30 actions in the mail from Ian Robertson, and I am very impressed. These things are worth every penny in my books, and I cannot wait until the barrel, and stocks come. Oh, and Ed to get back to me about the Vbull bottom metal. I'll post pictures later. :runaway:

I recieved my Tac 30 from Ian on Monday, I have the bbl, stock, and reamer. I am going to the smith next week, and I can hardly wait....This action is very cool!

I've had my TAC 30 on order since November. Was shipped this week. What are you guys going to build? I'm looking strongly at a 7mm-08 or 6.5x47 Lapua.

What is the TAC 30 action worth?

Talk to Ian, but between 850 and 1000 all in with different upgrades. Worth every penny.
I am putting a 25" fluted #5 Krieger in 6.5-284 on mine. It will have a .300" recoil lug (from Stiller) and a 20 MOA Picatinny, and Stiller refinished Timney. The stock is a McMillan HTG(M40A1) EDGE, in Henry Ford's favorite attire. I am going to use Night Force Ti Rings and a M4 4.5-14x50 Tac w/ Mil-dot for opitics. Oh, and once I talk to Ed (Vbull) we'll have good bottom metal too. Oh, I cannot wait at all.

When I get home I'll take a few pictures of the action.

The last shipment was about 7 weeks I think. Stiller is a busy guy. Prices are as per retail on the Stiller web site plus we charge $15 handling from USA to cover some of our shipping and customs expenses.

No trigger, and it is best to get a stiller base or you can use two front bases that would normally fit a rem 700 short action.

Here is my rig sporting the Stiller Tac 30 for all the Tac voyeurs out there.

Unless the prices have gone up they are not 1000.00. Second, buy a Rem donor and have it trued and add the features of the Stiller Tac actions and you are identical or very near to the same price as a reworked Rem but doubt you will have the resale value. Third, I don't follow what Savage is doing but what makes a Savage stronger than a Rem or a Stiller for that matter? Fourth, I find it disturbing that people would say the Tac actions are ugly and then suggest a Savage as an alternative. :D

The advantage

1000 for a clone at tripple the price of the "original" I don't understand. Someone please explain the advantage over an original Rem 700 action or an even stronger and cheaper savage action?

is QUALITY my friend.;) Far better metal is used and the tolerences are a lot tighter. To get a Rem 700 to meet the specs of one of the Tac 30's would cost substatially more than the Tac 30 itself. It should be 99.9% perfect right out of the box.

A Rem 700 would require truing of the face, bolt lugs, locking lugs, firing pin work, bushing the bolt and firing pin hole, trigger work, and timing. In theory one would be better off to have the action rebored and fitted with a PTG aftermarket bolt. This would ge you to about equivalent to the Tac 30.

Add it up along with the cost of the donor action and it is way way more.

In regards to a Savage, yes they may have a few things going for them but I will not go there.:D

I personally have yet to decide whether or not to sell my Sako TRG in 30-06 and buy a Stiller or Lawton for a build. When you start shooting something made on a custom action it is pretty hard to stop.

Nice rig. $$$$ hope it shoots as well as it looks. Don't get me wrong..I would love a set-up like that but money is an issue for me. Don't recal anyone saying the tacs are ugly.
