Any ideas? This is happening on both my guns. Each has a 10# recoil spring. Not sure if its dirt, grime, etc.

When it happens, it mostly goes into battery, but not all the way, invariably I get an off-centered light strike on the primer which won't set it off (using federals).

Only other thing I can think if is my ammo is loaded to long. I'm using frontier 147s loaded to 1.145". THis happened yesterday at Raccoon Hunters and I chambered checked the round in question, in chambered no problem.

I figured there is only so many things that can cause this, but its happened a few times now and I'm outta ideas.

That ammo is too long. I load Campro 147s at 1.095 OAL.

Are you chamber checking that ammo in the barrel or in a gauge? Gauges don't check ogives.

Campro 147s and Frontier 147s have a different Ogive; so you might be getting away with it most of the time, but when you hit a slightly anomalous one; the bullet is engaging rifling and you're screwed.

Try shortening your ammo. You may not have to be as short as me, but you definitely want to go shorter.

I shortened some down to 1.1 and will test them tonight

I chambered check the problem round in the barrel and in the gauge, went fine into both so I dont know why it wouldnt chamber in the match...of course on the timer youre not exactly investigating these things

I think you should start checking that on the clock ;)
I might get close to your times then!

As an example....mg and Speer 147 can be loaded out longer than campro or frontier....just because of the bullet profile/ ogive.
