Stock change for 94

I also think the lever is different, but you might be able to change that too. I would just be on the lookout for a newer style gun, unless you have a really nice one at the right price. Good luck, I love my 94 Ranger AE and might be picking up my fathers pre-64 soon.

Yeah I forgot about the lever. With the pistol grip they have a more curved lever so I'd have to replace that too. So i guess my question now is: Can I replace the straight stock and lever on a model 94 with a pistol grip stock and a curved lever?

Should be do-able. Search the gunshows and the internet for a lever and buttstock from a Model 64 or a Model 55. You'll also need the lower tang and possible a few more parts.

FWIW, the straight grip seems faster handling, more compact, and fits a wider variety of shooters regardless of hand size. I prefer it.

I too, prefer the straight grip...looks more "Western" to me  ....now I wish Marlin would make more 20" 336's with straight grips and short mag tubes like they did a few years back......
