Hey,

I'm interested in getting a stock checkered, and I'm not aware of any local guys who checker stocks, so I think that leaves me with the option of sending it out to someone to get it done. Any suggestions? I'm not looking for anything super fancy, just prefer the look and feel of checkering. I would prefer to keep it in Ontario to keep the shipping down, but I will go elsewhere if it's better quality. Thanks,

Cory

I got my work done at SC and would never consider going anywhere else for custom work now. It depends on how many lines you want per inch the more per inch the more it costs. i think i got 20 or something like that per inch b/c i wanted it for hunting and was thinking about it being practical.

Do it yourself. It isn't that hard. Practice on a scrap piece of hardwood. I got my checkering tools from Gunline Tools. The Customs Postal Import Form says "tools-hand" but that was back in more enlightened times.

HVH enterprises in Wennipeg has checkering tools and
cutters. Phone 204 255 8988
Nice couple to deal with. no online as far as I know
For practice, get a old stock with worn out checkering
on it and recut that for practice to get the feel of it.
The hardest part is getting the layout right and keep
your lines straight, and having sore eyes and back after
a few hours, thou your eyes are likly much better than mine.
Take your time and after awhile you will see why I posted
the previous post above.
