The one thing that truly picks at me with my Winchester takedown is the lack of checkering on the lumber. Reaching out to the brain trust here, anyone known fo good quality work with a reasonable turnaround? Now that winter has set in, turnaround by spring is cool, location in the western half of Kanuckastan would be preferable........

TIA as always!

You could look up G.E.Flach here in this sub-forum.
He lives in Metro Vancouver.
He may or may not be interested.
Then again a call to Reliable on Fraser St on Tuesday may offer a recommendation with a phone number .
$300.00 doesnt buy much in the way of decorations or so I have been told.

One person I can recommend highly from personal experience is Chris Griesbach in Three Hills, Alberta. I had Chris checker a Dakota Varminter that I had just purchased from Dakota Arms and came with no checkering. The work was absolutely first-class (large wraparound 24 lpi point pattern checkering on both the grip and forend), shown below, was done in a very reasonable time (two weeks), and was fairly priced. Chris is a member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild.
