I really enjoy this thing, it's accurate enough and has fed my family. In 308 if it matters.

However....

The stock ABSOLUTELY BLOWS GOATS.

Intended use is primarily hunting but I do enjoy shooting it at the range too. Weight is more of a plus than a minus because I hate recoil almost as much as I hate this stock, so no carbon fiber doodads necessary here.

On a budget, but not completely unwilling to save up for something that's substantially better (but it better be a lot better (or made in Canada!) than cheaper options!)

What do y'all suggest?

Boyds? Chassis system?

I put mine in an MDT chassis ...yeah I hunt with it...the stock mine came with was not horrible, very adjustable both LOP and comb height...but I like the aluminum chassis better

I suggest you buy a 6.5CM instead. The optional manbun is up to you after that. :)

Hah! 6.5x55 or go home.

In all seriousness 308 is just a better cartridge for the close range woods hunting for bear we do. My shot this year was a new record of 70 yards! Two years ago it was 25 yards, and believe me you want all the cannon you can handle when they're that close.

I find a chassis with a pistol grip is more comfortable.
Unles you have reaaallllly limp wrists that can mold to the regular rifle grip… lol
