This has likely been talked about allot. Is there an earlier post I can refer to? I have an older British shotgun and would just like to oil it down a bit not totaly refinish it. 1950 was the year of manufacture. I assume some mixture of linseed or boiled linseed etc, etc. What do you suggest please?

Warm raw linseed will soak into wood well. Let it dry for a day and hand rub it in between. Soak and dry until the wood wont take anymore.

is it an oil finish stock now with no sealer on it?

I wouldn't use raw linseed oil as it takes a very long time to dry. For touch up work I use BOILED linseed oil mixed 50/50 with turpentine. Very easy to work with and dries quickly. Rub it in with the palm of your hand. Note; boiled linseed oil is not boiled but for some reason that's what they call it when it has driers added to it.
