I'm looking to get a stock for a 6.5x47L I'm building. While I'd like a McMillan the wait is 5 months. My choices are:

Robertson: anybody have any comments and know how long /how much to get one of their A5 style stocks with adjustable cheek piece / butt plate?

B&C: can get one of these from a vendor on here for a good price but have never seen one in person, comments on quality, etc?

Cholte: similar to the B&C, readily available but never seen one?

So, which one would you go for, or convince me to wait 5 months for the McM

Thanks

What kind of rifle is it going on? Rem 700, Savage, Winchester 70??

Thanks for the advice folks....will have to check out jw....already have an message into Robertson, just figured I'd get a quick answer here to see if its in stock or 5 months as a ball park. It's going in a Rem 700 SA

For what it is worth, I've really enjoyed my B&C Medallist stock on my Rem700. But I've never handled the others you've listed for comparison. Although I've seen a few Robertsons and they are gorgeous.

I've shot a ROBERTSON product for about 5 year now.
Money well spent and was one the best decisions I had made when assembling my components. This is a company who'll always be there for you.

The product is available in every style, color, finish, and options.
The workmanship is incredible.

The fact that you're dealing directly with the owner of the company and they're located in Canada is a huge benefit.
Robertson Stocks has been a business many years and is very credible.
You won't be sorry.

I'd highly recommend that your action, bottom metal, trigger guard and trigger is all shipped to Robertson Stocks to have them complete the inletting and pillar bedding.

If you really want a McM stock, try JW Precision - http://jwprecision.ca/index.html

John is a dealer here on CGN and is an awesome guy to deal with. He has McM stocks in stock - in popular configurations which you might like.

Which also means no 5 month wait!

Cheers, Carl

I've noticed that people keep mentioning JW Precision but when I was looking for a micky a5 I pm'd him and he told me he couldn't ship to Canada????:confused:...This was mid 2008.

I will only get you a stock if McMillan drop ships for me. The money for the permits is just not worth it for me to do as Canadian orders aren't high enough so they have to come from McMillan from now on. There is a 3.5 month wait time on average right now for anything McMillan offers. Ordering through me saves you money over McMillan's retail pricing before someone asks. We have been through this a few times with me shipping direct from what's in stock but from now on international orders are special order only with the wait time.
"I will only ship to a US address"

If anyone needs a quote just fill out the quote form on the top of my site and you will get the prices. I'll beat anyones elses quote, just send it to me. I'll beat 24hr campfire by 10.00 if you want to keep the business on Nutz. Just for your info they also only do McMillan drop ship to international customers the same as I do.

I can't comment as to pricing or supply but I will say that Robertson stocks are AT LEAST equal to Macmillan; from any standpoint. I wouldn't hesitate to use one instead of a MacMillan. In fact, the Robertson would be my first choice. The other two stocks are not in the same league. The B&C is a decent handle but lacks the strength and rigidity of the better stocks. The Choate is marginally better than holding the barreled action is your hands. Regards, Bill
