Stock painting advice

Hi Guy`s,

I have a HS Pro Series stock that I want to paint. I bought Krylon paint. What if any is the prep work before painting?
Any help would be great

Degrease with laquer thinner and give it a light sanding/scuffing.

Paint away and post the photos.

what grit sand paper works best?

scothcbrite pad would probably do the trick.

tip #1 if you find krylon webbing paint. buy all you can because its hard to find.

I don`t think I`ve even seen webbing paint. Do you mean that stuff that kinda spits it on and is rough finish?

yeah i have a small can of the excel silver webbing i used on my stevens. took me three days of scouring the city to find a store that had it couldnt find the krylon

How about when it comes to camoing(painting) the barrel and scope? Do these need scuffing up also. I know about the acetone.

If the parkerising is good, just degrease and then hit with primer, then paint.

If there is smooth metal, the scuffing, media blasting is probably the way to go.

Tremclad makes a textured spray paint that gives a good grip.The only decent colors are flat black and Khaki.However it makes good undercoat..................just spray your base color over top and you have a nice textured finish.

Clearcoat use Excel Colorvision MATTE clearcoat from Rona.

Got off the phone with Krylon Canada this morning and the rep told me they won't be selling their webbing paint in Canada anymore. Buy up whatever you find cause that's the last of it.
