I'm looking to upgrade the Hogue overmold stock on my Rem 700 SPS tactical and I have a few questions.

I'm currently looking at the HS precision PST008, does anyone have any experience with HS precision stocks? I believe my barrel is .848" dia so will I need a stock with a "varmint barrel contour"?.

I'm willing to consider other makes/models but I'd like to keep it simple.

I've also noticed that HS precision offers the PST062 which can take a Remington detachable mag. Will I need to change out the bottom metal to accept a Remington detachable mag? Considering that most aftermarket detachable magazine conversions run $250+, is this a good/reliable substitute?

Links to the two stocks are here:

On a side note, who deals in HS precision stocks?

Stay away from the Remington detachable mag system.......I had a 700 PSS with the Detachable magazine and there were feed issues with the second and/or third rounds.

The detachable magazine conversions that use the AI 5 and 10 round mags are the most reliable...........but these conversions aren't cheap........you get what you pay for...........

Personally I like the AICS stock.......... already set up to take AI magazines..... just drop your Remington action in and off you go..........

If you want to use AI magazines... Why not get something made in Canada?
