Hello all, I recently purchases a used USGI fiberglass stock from a fellow Nut.

I intend to fill in the selector switch cut out and build up the "dam" to secure the op-rod retaining pin. My question is in the prep work to fill in the stock. I want to clean the areas of the stock prior to working on it. Should I wipe down and clean the affected areas with rubbing alcohol? Or would something like brake clean work? What have you guys used.

Thanks
P.S. After the areas are filled I will be priming the full stock and hand guard, and finishing it with Krylon spray paint.

No responses. Oh well. I used brake clean then some compressed air to clean out the areas I was going to fill. I then used Quick Set BJ Weld

Seems to have cleaned everything nicely. The JB Weld is now curing overnight..

The only issue I found if you use Krylon is waiting the week for it to fully harden. I think if I refinish another GI stock I will try Durocote to get a heavier duty finish.
