I sold my 700 VS and lately swapped for a 700P. I have not shot the police 308 yet and still brand new, but I hate the grip. The moment I took it out of the box, I regret buying it. I am a small guy with small hands, the stock grip is too too fat for my hands. It just feels really uncomfortable with the police grip. The VS i had before was much better. So now choices now are as follows:

1. Sell the 308 police and get something else (more money)
2. Take off the stock and buy a new stock (ex: accuracy international)

Suggetions?

Thanks guys

Do you know the estimated price for your suggested stock? & who carries them? prefer CGN sponsors. I am not planning to spend too much.

What you really need is my a-5 out of the ee ;)

The AI depending on configuration is about $1000 maybe more now! thats what they were when I was looking. The Robertson will be about the same so will a tactical McMillan depending on optios. You could email HS and see what stock of theres would match the VS you had and order one of them in a finish you want for about 550 or so:confused:

Also put an add in the ee for a trade. Your police stock for someones VS stock someone on here might feel the oposite way you do and trade.

AI stock - Wolverine supplies (up top)
Robertson stock - Ian Robertson (member)
HS Precision - P&D enterprises (up top)

Thanks, its a police. VS was sold :(
I checked out AI stock, they look really hot! but the price is hot too. accesories are insane. I think police comes with HS Precision and I don't like it, its just too fat, i cannot wrap my hands around comfortable to pull the trigger.

The VS was an HS precision too just like the police and so was the sendero for some of the years palm swell was the main difference from what I could tell. Your best bet is a trade. Your police for a vs or find out what model stock from HS would match the VS sell your Police (should get 350-375) and order the new HS in a color of your choice. That is your cheapest options anyways.

It all depends on what style of stock you like - VS is traditional, PSS has the palm swells (hate it myself), McMillan A2,3,4,5 has the vertical grip style for prone shooting (not my fave either), AI has the thumbhole style (have not shot this but have heard it does sometimes hurt the web of the thumb)

I like the traditional style which is why I went with an M40A1 style stock - similar to your old VS stock

Oldsmobiler, yes. I hate the fat palm swells. Who makes the M40A1 stock? I prefer something with an adjusting cheek rest with a military look to it.

McMillan - was just cruising around in the EE and there "were" two available...both of these are excellent stocks to build a tackdriver rifle. I have the adjustable cheekrest on mine and if I were to do it again I would opt for the non adjustable one. Its a pain to remove the bolt and its always moving around on me. Right now I have it adjusted to the bare min and strapped on an Eagle cheekrest bag. I want to keep things the same everytime I need to take it apart and bring it back to where it was. But here are the two ads I was talking about:

Just keep looking in the parts for sale section - good stuff always comes up

Too bad they are all sold. Kind of fancy with the camo/colorful look. Do we have a dealer here that carries these?

Does the A5 have a small grip though, compared to the police stock? Smaller probably is better for me. I am really worried to get something that does not fit

I put an AICS on my 700P and love it but it added to the overall weight considerably... I think it almost doubled. Just something to consider when buying a new stock.

For sure the AICS and McMillan stocks are awesome and I would go for either given the chance..

but if you don't want to spend the big $$ right now, consider checking out the stock off of the 700 LTR.

I have both the P and LTR stocks on different rifles and I know what you mean about the P stock but the LTR stock is very different and quite comfortable.

You could probably find one on the EE or somewhere else for less $.

If you can get a chance to handle one you will know what I mean

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I have decided with a 1.5 model of AICS, just ordered it today and should be here next week. If anyone wants buy my HS precision stock that comes with the police. Please let me know. Its brand new.
