I have a couple of Anschutz stocks that are nice wood, but poorly finished. This is typical of Anschutz stocks; the pores aren't filled, and, in some cases, the checkering is pretty lousy.
I've tried to find a Canadian stock person to refinish the stocks, but have struck out. One guy was too busy, another outfit here in BC simply didn't respond to two email queries I sent about doing the work, something I found pretty pathetic--unprofessional in the extreme. OK rant over.
Who can you guys recommend for this kind of work--not a full restocking, just improving the existing stock? There are lots of guys across the border who welcome this kind of work and do it at very reasonable prices, and I suppose if all else fails, I could look into going that route. Just seems strange to me that the guys here in Canada who advertise their services as stockmakers aren't interested....
