A friend of mine died suddenly last year. This summer I was helping the executor go through his handguns and discovered a gun that I had no idea he had. It is a pre-easy open, 3rd-pattern-of-the-1st-generation Thompson Center Contender. It had two barrels but was largely disassembled with the small pieces in ziplock bags, and the executor believed some pieces were missing, so he let me have it at a pretty good price.

After careful examination I came up with a list of missing or worn springs and pins and Kurt Bellm down in the states has helped me with those. Now all that remains is some stocks. It came with a walnut grip but it is cracked and I don't like the feel of it anyway. It did not come with any kind of foreend.

I was hoping to pick up a set of these:

...but I contacted the supplier and they won't ship outside of the 50 states.

Thompson Center is now owned by Smith & Wesson and they made the decision to not support the first gen Contenders a number of years ago. The Canadian distributor of T/C is W.A. Charlton, I called them and they have only a couple hinge pins left in the parts bin.

Is anyone aware of a source of grips and forestocks for these guns that is in Canada or will ship here? Wood or laminate please, none of that Pachmyer stuff.

I'm close enough to the US to have stuff I want shipped to a postal service just across the border and pick it up there. Haven't tried to sneak any ITAR restricted stuff out (yet) but I can save a bunch on the shipping and taxes which pays for the gas. I make a day of it and take my motorcycle if it's nice and warm.
Your mileage may vary.
Bullet moulds and gas checks for 9.3mm bullets are hard to get otherwise.

Some companies like Boyds Will not ship stocks to canada so check first. As well, and I found out at the end of the order if your credit card is Canadian, or the address of the primary holDer is Canadian they still won’t ship it. Let me know if you have issues ...bI go down to the states in August and brings parts only back... long wait but willing to help if I can.

The Belhms are a great source of parts and info and they ship!

I like Eds Contenders in Oklahoma as well but I have never had him ship across the border.

Agreed since the S&W fiasco service and such is horrible. You should see what they did to a warranty stock on the Encore...complete butcher job repair instead of replacement after 9 months of waiting.

I love the old Contenders and while I do have the Pachmayr set the old old wood can be very nice. Check out the Thompson Center Collectors Association website for links to their guys who make wood stocks.

Thanks to everybody for the answers.

Gun Parts Corp does indeed show grips but no forends, and the forend is the priority since I don't have one at all.

The T/C Association page links page doesn't include any stock makers that I can see.

There are however, lots of good leads. Some directions I have been pointed to:

Tonys Forends and Grips
High Plains Gunstocks
Bulberry Barrel Works

And most convenient of all, a domestic collector who has some old furniture he is willing to part with. This will allow me to economically get this gun together, make sure it works, and gain some insight into how I might be using it before I commit to a set of costly and long-lead-time custom furniture from whatever source I end up with. Thanks everybody.
