Stoeger 2000 as good as Beretta or Beneli?

You get what you pay for. Not as well finished on the internals, so from what I've heard, they do not cycle as well unless they've been polished up or honed and all that. Not to say that they aren't good, but just not the same as their relatives that cost more than a grand more.

It isn't as good. The build quality doesn't come close to the comparable Benelli but then neither does the price.

From what I've seen of the semi-autos in this price range I'd get the Baikal instead.

And I had a 2000 so no heresay. Mine never skipped a beat, never jammed and functioned perfect every single time.

+1
Well it jammed once or twice within the first box or 2 and I was shooting the cheap trap loads. Since then though (5 or 6 years now I think), it hasn't skipped a beat. I personally have no reason to upgrade.

I have a stoeger 2000. I have had it since sept 2003.
The gun has no problems at all and never jams.
My son shoots it and we pound lots of steel shot through it and it takes a beating.
The recoil spring is on the mag tube and that's what I like instead of being in the butt stock like the beretta's and benelli's
The new ones now are a little better balanced and for the money it's a good shotgun.

I've got one.

It failed to feed light loads on occasion until it had about 200 through it. After that it functioned flawlessly.

The fit and finish is very nice and it is an attractive looking gun. It happens to fit me very well and I can hit with it a lot. To me it is very well balanced.
No problems with quality at all and it came with a good selection of chokes. The wood is nice enough though not super fancy.

Very fun to shoot, cycles very quickly. My buddy has a new Benelli and it is very nice as well. We both have fun when we go shooting clays.

To me, his Benelli is not $1500 nicer than my Stoeger, and I hit more often than he does.

I had a new Beretta A303 a few years ago. I like this much better.

It's funny, I only bought it because it was going for too low a price at a D.U. auction. I didn't really want it at the time and figured it was likely kind of cheap. It has won me over though and is now one of my favorite shotguns.

I've got between 1500 and 2000 rounds through it now with no problems at all. These were mostly target loads.

I think its a very good value.

Go to a gun dealer and shoulder all three or four. You will be attracted to the Benelli almost for sure. Check out the Stoeger, Franchi and Benelli forums and compare complaints. You will get some answers. That's all folks...
