They are a decent little grouse gun.... overall length is 29 inches. It breaks down with a flat head screw on the forestock. You likely can fit into the box without take down.
I have found that they do not point where they shoot... the barrel is just to damn short to use as a sight plane. That said, it is very easy to become proficient with a little practice. I have killed grouse and small game at 25 yards with a backpacker on many occasions.

They are loud as ####, I was going to have a knurled head screw made to fit mine so it could come apart without tools. As far as hitting where you aim, you can put a taller bead on it or... I was going to put a scope rail and a red dot on mine. Wouldn't that be cool? i was also going to replace the pad with a regular butt plate, making it 28" long.
My dad has the double barrel coachgun version with 20" barrels in .410. It's a nicely made, beautiful, light, handy grouse and rabbit/hare gun. It's a great gun for when it starts getting real cold and the recoil of a 12 ga becomes punishing with cold hands.
He can't use slugs though, as both barrels are not aligned (too short for proper alignement) and the shots cross each other rendering it hopelessly innaccurate.
However, it does fine with a load of no. 6's or 7 1/2's in 2 1/2" shells.

Fun little guns, decent close range grouse gun, great "bear banger" and noise maker.
Picked up custom made leather holsters for them at the Chilliwack Gun Show last month, haven't had a chance to try those out yet.

I've had two of them; both threw such hopelessly huge patterns that there was little chance of getting a pellet into a grouse at 10 m.
I might have just lucked into two duds - they appeared to have been choked by jamming the muzzle into a cone. It's quite possible that no two are alike, but mine sure weren't worth a damn.

I have a Savage model 24S in .22LR/.410 over under. This gun breaks down into 3 pieces without the use of tools to 24" (length of the barrel). The .22 is on the top and will drive tacks at 50yrds. The .410 is just cylinder bore and has a wide spread pattern. This was the first gun I bought for $50, and it has to be my favourite. I don't think they make these new anymore, but keep an eye out for them at auctions and stuff, you might be able to pick one up there.
