Stoeger Double Defense

I am just curious...

Why would you want a tacticool double shot gun?

I would suggest that there are far better deals out there... mossberg 500 / 590a1
defender 1300... 870..

all proven.

This is marketed as a tactical defense weapon - and it just seems there are far better options..

Just my opinion here.. not judging :)

I just can't take the video seriously. Ideal for "close quarters and tense situations.."
Expensive too...

My local dealer has one....I'm pretty sure the used a cheap paint on the stoeger wood furniture. I would much rather use my 870 with 8 shots, side saddle and a flashlight.

havent had time to take it out yet, yup its totally cheaply made and painted, always wanted a coach gun and this one has rails so it had me sold, i doubt it will hold up in rough conditions, the break action level seems like it will break at some point, has a weird range of motion, hinge is snug, will not "break" under its own weight. stock is just painted black with matte paint, oh well, aslong as i get a decent timeframe out of it im happy

I'll admit that it's a nice looking weapon.

I do however question its intended purpose and agree with ghost

well im just using it for forest walks into the ole cottage or hunting camp. will never need more then 2 and if so well..... im screwed but its mainly a novelty item for me aswell

well i was thinkin of it for a female, mainly my mom , and to me nothing is less complicated than breaking the barrel putting two shells in and pulling a hammer , she has no idea about guns to save her soul and thinks everything ive shown her is too heavy ? what do you think or should i just get a dominion 12 inch double ?

Please don`t take offense, but your mom has no business handling any gun until she can do so safely. If she's not able to learn how to handle a 20 gauge pump (what you should be looking at for her) safely, then she should not be anywhere near guns of any sort. She will just be a negligent homicide waiting to happen. And that`s the truth.

But once you have taken her to the range a few times, and she has completed her PAL course; and once she actually has her PAL and can legally possess and handle firearms unsupervised; then you can take her gun shopping. A nice shotgun for her to start off with would be a Remington 870 Youth Model 20 Gauge. Easy to use, short enough barrel for home defense purposes, and 20 ga. can be fairly effective while still having manageable recoil for a lady that does not shoot regularly.

Oh and not to be picky, but you don`t "pull a hammer", you pull the trigger which releases the hammer. ;) I'll stop being a pain in the ass now. :D

have you shot it yet? i would like to know how it is

I would think the same as shooting a coach gun. Pretty much it is a coach gun with a black paint job and a couple of picatinny type rails mounted above and below the barrels. Recoil may be a tad less due tot he extra weight of the rails and paint but I doubt it would be noticeable.

Krausb- maybe modernwarriors mom can handle a shotgun just fine. In fact maybe she just retired from jtf2 and is gonna come and kick your butt for writing annoying posts.

Maybe. But I doubt it. ;) If you read his post, you would see that his mom has little to no familiarity with firearms. :p

What a load...

The gun that won the west was a SXS shotgun used mostly by women with very little experience with firearms.

and you squeeze a trigger... ;)
