Just getting into clays, I'm thinking of a stoeger o/u. But the guys I shoot with, think I should buy a high end shot gun. Any opinions??

High end is definitely better but if you are on a budget get a Baikal before a Stoeger. for about the same money Baikal offers:
Selective trigger, cast off stock and a little more rugged design.
For a few bucks more you can get a clays gun with sliver reciever, ported bbls, palm swell and nicer wood.
the Stoegers do have a shinier finish. I have seen more stoegers having work done than Baikals.
I have seen 2 Baikals needing work, a SXS that the rib started to peel (fixed under warranty) and a gun that just got all loose, mind you this same guy had a Stoeger twist on him, a Browning fill up with water, and on and on and on..... he really doesn't take care of his toys.
I do trap shoot with a Baikal single shot and have a lot of fun. But if you are going to step further to shoot skeet and double, a semi and o/u will be much better than a pump for sure. understand break the bird is the shooter, not the gun but a better gun will help a lot. Moss semi is inexpensive too.

I had a Stoeger Condor and was not happy with it. Poor fit and finish. I now have Brownings and a Baikal. The baikal seems to be better made and feels better shooting it than the stoeger. However, if your bank account can take the beating, get a browning or a beretta. If not, I'd get a semi before the Stoeger.
