Picked this up recently. From the 1960's imported by Stoeger and made in Italy by G Gamba. 12 gauge 32"
Anyone familiar with these? There is very little on the internet on them.

These were imported in very small numbers by Stoeger Canada. To the best of my knowledge they were never offered in the US. They are a very sturdy well made gun and if in good mechanical condition make a fine club level trap gun, especially for a beginner. Be aware that spare parts are pretty well unobtainium so if it breaks it's toast. Because of this these guns have sold well under their quality level price, the last one I saw was at the Chilliwack gun show about 4-5 years ago, it started at $750 and sold sometime after the price was lowered to $450. I think that they are a noticeably better gun than the Browning BT99 and personally I would buy one ( at the right price) for a rainy day/loaner gun.

Thanks Ashcroft. The gun appears to have been used very little. The trigger is surprisingly good as well. I’m looking forward to shooting it.

Ashcroft,

I'm not familiar with this gun but to say it's better than a Bt-99 is quite a statement! Not that I'm disagreeing with you but I've seen lots of Bt-99's shoot tens and even hundreds of thousands of rounds so it must really be a very good gun!

Somewhat of a matter of preference falconflyer. Not knocking the BT99, I've owned and extensively shot a few of them , they are a very fine gun in some configurations, tough as a tank and they still are capable of winning important shoots. They are a true bargain, so much so that they killed off all the competition anywhere near their price range. However, I've found that these little known Italian made Stoeger trap guns are better finished, better fitted and have a lockup that makes a trimmer gun. Stronger? Don't know, I've never known anyone that shot one extensively for years and years but I do know of a few that are getting up there, still in use by preference and have never shot loose or given any problems. They were sold in USA under the Gamba name. Having shot both, I prefer the Stoeger, you may like the Browning better. Actually I much prefer the Beretta Mark II over either.

It's not that I like the Bt-99 better and although I've shot them before I've steered away from single barrel trap guns in general... that's not to say they aren't a good gun though. I just know very little about the Stoeger/Gamba, thanks for the info.

I saw that at Cabelas as well. It was interesting. Sucks they had a trigger lock on it. The length of pull is longer than usual. Didn’t know if it would fit me right. It’s unique. You did good.

That will be fun to shoot. I think it has a tight .729 bore and check the coke. It could be a great Turkey Shoot gun. Back then a full Choke was very tight. And backboring had not been invented ( Moneymaker excepted) . This was made to shoot tight patterns with paper cartridges and fiber wads. I would think the 1 oz load we now use will be best. Have you patterned it yet?

No, embarrassingly I haven't even shot it yet. The lop is 14.5" which isn't too bad for me. Fairly light at 7lbs 14oz.
The choke measures 0.68". Thanks for the tip re the 1oz loads. Happens to be what I have.
It was a great find. Hopefully even better once I shoot it!

Muzzle measuring 0.680 would have a 0.049 choke with nominal 0.729 bore.
Your actual bore diameter in mm should be in the proof marks.
