My truck rear passenger window was smashed overnight last night and two rifles stolen.

1. A really nice TGF 1950 98 Mauser with a new production laminate stock, full military, Iraqi proof marks

2. A Spanish Air Force 98 Mauser, full wood, only good condition.

Both rifles in 8x57 Mauser. I can dredge up the TGF serial number when I get home. It will stand out, being likely the only TGF 1950 with a nice new laminate stock.

If any Hinton and area CGN'rs have any info about this, please contact the Hinton RCMP, Cst. Kelly FONTAINE.

If the rifles do surface, I will glady pay a reward, especially for the TGF. The Spanish rifle I bought at the Calgary show.

Thanks for any help. I just placed an ad in the Hinton paper. Phone or PM me if you have any info. There will be a reward for the return of the rifles. :)

Nice rifles. Shame about your misfortune. You should also try posting on social media gun sites if have not already done so. These rifles will stand out in a crowd and should be easy to spot if they come up for sale or pawn.

There seems to be low life thieves everywhere these days....hopefully the rifles will turn up as they are fairly unique...

what happened to the days where thieves were dealt the harshest punishments... esp by their own community...? I think its only the last century or so that this trend has changed. Now it is consequence free in many cases. Sad.

Very distinctive rifle and caliber. I would check the local places that sell ammo for it for any recent purchases from suspicious folks. At least where I live, you don't just find 8x57 at the local CT. Hope it turns up.

I have been victimized and this s**t turns my stomach :(

I appreciate the offers of help and extra eyes. Haven't scared up the serial number yet for the TGF. I've added a pic (off the net) of the crest on the receiver on the Spanish Mauser. The wood on it is quite dark and doesn't match.
