A lot of people will get a big aggressive dog, and sleep better at night. I think a better choice is a little yappy dog combined with a 12 or 20 gauge pump within reach. The little dog will wake you up if anything is awry, and the shotgun will take care of the rest of the situation.

When the police security team did the inspection and made suggestions, they emphasized lots of light outside and a dog.
The dog at the time of the break in was very friendly and would have held the door open for the perps. He was also a sound sleeper.
The current dog is a big lab. He barks when he hears strange sounds and can wake up to do it.
A yappy little dog would be perfect. Dog is an alarm system, not a barrier.

I also have a dog that would be that lol did ya bring some food hahah, she’s half lab and half German Shepard, she sleeps with me now she pretty old now she did save me for body coming in my trailer once tho , the other one is 160 lbs of if I don’t now you , your not supposed to be here and he hates coyotes also
