Hey guys, I recently moved into a new house and am wondering if I can store all my guns in the unfinished basement, either on racks or in safe. Just wondering if there was a reason why I shouldn't? Thanks
I would be concerned about moisture levels and the possibility of water intrusion or flooding. If none of the above are concerns, then basement storeage should be fine. Warmer parts of the house do tend to be drier though. For long term storage oil the guns well, including the bores.

I store about 2/3 of my herd in converted high school lockers in my unfinished basement.Have been doing this 18 years with good success at this location. Heated finished room at Mom's prior to that.
I do have them coated with a stag oil made for storage and they are in gun silicon socks . I know some hate them but they work for me.
They are taken out yearly as a min checked over and recoated with oil.
I do have an air exchanger in the house and control the moisture and the basement has one small zone of heaters to keep it about 65 in the coldest of winter. I am only probally 8 feet from the furnace which is the warmest spot.
Keeping an eye on the humidity is key and the lockers are designed to allow air circulation. Also my basement never gets any water but if it did the lockers could protect for a 1" or so.
My high end guns are kept at a friends in his big dollar factory gun vault
Storage in the basement especially the water heater furnace room, keep lockers a few inches off the floor and have a desiccant dryer pack in each locker and your set. The air should be dry in the furnace room as the pilot lights are always on.
