Recently acquired RPAL. Currently store rifles at home, wife's not a fan. Is it legal for me to store them at my office. I own my own building, more secure than my house honestly. I'm probably there more than home too. Anyway, is it legal?

You can get a second residence added but not sure about an office. Call the firearms office on Ellice and they will tell you what u can and can't do.

Do you have authorization to transport to your buddies house? Unless he is an accredited shooting range I would say no. Unless the rules in Manitoba are far different from those in Ontario that is.

Short answer is no, you can't.

What sort of paperwork would be involved in registering your business as a gun retailer or gunsmithing? Of course you'd never actually be selling from there, and you'd have to store them as per business regs, not individual, but... ??

I don't know about Manitoba but here in Alberta you can get alternative storage other than your own residence for restricted. My son in law keeps his restricteds at my house and I have the paperwork

Non restricted you can do pretty much anything as long as it's done safely.

Restricted will depend on how clear an explanation you provide to the CFO/Firearms center. If you can convince them that your office is safer than your home you've got a decent shot. The whole ' multiple residences ' issue is touchy and tricky to them and raises their Paranoid Meter to the red zone.

The downside is that if you get inspected ( and you probably will be ) they're snooping around your office. If you think it's worth the trouble, go for it. I've seen variants of it done before without to much hassle.

Don't own a restricted yet. Got the licence just in case I wanted to buy one or try out some at the range. The rifles are fine at home, wife just doesn't like them, and that doesn't bother me either. Just figured storing them at my office was no different than my home office. From what I've read I can store the rifles pretty much anywhere. If i do end up buying a restricted I'll look into storing them either at the range or my office. My office is in an area zoned residential/commercial. Lots of people living above their businesses near buy. Maybe I can set up a residence there? To the people posting get rid of my wife, thanks but no thanks I'm looking for actual advice not sarcastic comments. My wife just doesn't like guns, she asked if they could be stored at our office/warehouse whatever. To me that would be a perfect place to store them. Considering the offices has a locking compound, video surveillance, alarmed steel solid core doors, and a safe. Compared to a house that's hardly ever locked, with kids in and out all day, and 2 adults who spend more time at the office than home. But the laws the law, I'll just store a handgun in a Dora lunchbox with a small lock at home
