I have a few Plano ammo bxs, that hold 25 pks of A.E. 223. Would it be ok for me to store the ammo , loose in the plastic Plano containers? I think I could get more rnds in there if they were loose.

It's certainly not going to affect your ammo. Nor is it illegal under any law or regulation I've ever seen.

If that's your concern, where you store it is generally more important than what you store it in. Clean, dry and cool is optimal; good ammo with non-mercuric primers can last almost indefinitely. Heat is Bad and can reduce performance surprisingly quickly. Cold not nearly as damaging.

I keep it in a plastic Plano box, inside of a steel stack on cabinet. Which is kept in the basement. Sound good? I don't think the cardboard bxs do anything , other than take up space. But wasn't sure if the cartridges, just banging around would damage them.

I save all those little dry pack things that come in packaging and throw em in my ammo boxes and gun safe. Might be dumb having them scattered all over, but I haven't had any issues doing so.

If it is plinking ammo I don't see a problem loose in the Plano containers
yep, it's only A.E. Black box , I keep all the hornady and nosler in the packs, it looks so good , I almost don't want to use it"..:) oh, the reason I asked was ,I figured I could get more in there , without the cardboard box.

Look at it this way. What's going to happen? It's not like you're using the boxes as maracas or something. They're sitting in a box on a shelf. Commercial ammo is packaged to sell, to meet obscure packaging regulations written by people who don't know anything about ammo and to stack nicely on store shelves. Unless you're planning on competition shooting or something, it'll be fine. Don't worry about it.

I generally put a hundred rds. in a Ziploc and then in an ammo can. That way I just grab a couple of bags rather than lug around the whole can. I carry enough crap as it is
