Storing rifles (Milsurps) in attic?

In relation to the post, I wouldn't store them in my attic, the temperature gets way too hot up there to the point I am afraid the stocks will dry out considerably and crack. The basement wouldn't be my next choice with all the moisture you can get down there but if you have a dehumidifier working and the temperature stays relatively consistent, it may be just be suitable.

Are you able to store them in the garage or possibly with a trusted friend under lock and key ?

Your Enfield stocks were dipped in a hot tank of raw linseed oil when the stock was made and the armourers if needed would again dip the stocks in a tank of hot linseed oil during the yearly tear down inspection. After Dunkirk the yearly tear down inspections were canceled and the Enfields were only torn down as needed. Everything under the wood line was painted and the troops were issued raw linseed oil to oil the stocks "monthly". These stocks were oiled from North Africa to the Pacific jungles by the troops the rifle was issued to. No matter where you store your enfields keep them well oiled or you will have wood shrinkage and bedding changes that effect accuracy. ;)
