stove top parkarizing lets hear it!!

I used muratic acid to strip the old finish off, then the Radocy parkerizing solution in a stainless pot on the stove (follow directions on label). Here is an M1 trigger group I did, ended up doing all the small parts and they all turned out the same. Stuff works good and it's very durable.

I've blasted prior to using the Radocy park. Worked very well. Made a stainless tank long enough for barrels. Plugged the barrels by running a threaded rod through with sealing washers secured at each end by nuts. This displaces air that would otherwise be trapped inside, and holds the plugs firmly in place.

What concentration of muriatic acid did ya use, Hitzy?

What are the differences between zinc and manganese parkerize finish?
Which method did they use to turn my Garand reciever and bolt green?

Do either of these methods include use of a dye to darken the metal, or am I getting it confused with anodizing?

Fill the barrel with water too. It helps if it leaks a little.

I use corks and fill the barrel with water.

Radocy rocks. Homemade is OK but Radocy is the best.

I believe the green tinge is caused by the cosmoline leeching into the parkerizing during long periods of storage. There's a fellow here in SW Ont that can recreate the green parkerizing for you, if your inclined.
