After several seasons of trying, I finally got 25 straight in 5-stand last week. Our club got some 25, 50, 75 and 100 straight patches from Lawrys late last season and will start handing them out this year. Do you get a 25 straight patch every time you shoot 25, or only on your first 25, first 50, etc? How do they do this at other clubs??

Most clubs give them out to shooters who attain their firsts.

First time only and usually only for skeet and trap. They aren't commonly given out for sporting clays or five stand because those games can vary significantly from club to club. There are five stand set ups where 25 straight is a piece of cake while others are far more challenging.

I would think that's very true and my experience with 5-stand is one afternoon at one course about 17 years ago. I shot 25 straight on it first round out of the gate and thought "this isn't as challenging as they let on?" I wished I had lived where there was access to others as I thoroughly enjoyed it but I cannot bring myself to incur the expense of travelling hours from home just for some casual shooting and with the lack of availability the expense of getting targets for any kind of registered shooting including trap has completely losts it's appeal.

Congrats on 25 straight! that's a "hero for the day" feeling.
At our club I have only seen 5 clean rounds at five stand and 3 of those were mine (everyone was quite happy to shoot the snot out of my hat on that first time). Since I started making cards up with more demanding doubles combinations 2 years ago, no-one has run the course cleanly to my knowledge. There is quite a bit of groaning when I come out with new cards.

Our club had pins made up. We give them away for a first 25, 50 etc. After that we will sell you more at $4 if you want a pin for each time.

We give them away for first time at each discipline. So far none given away at 5 stand.

Very impressive. I shoot ay HAHA and we have a five stand/sporting clays field set up but they've tamed it down because people complained it was to hard and it wasn't getting use. We have three trap fields and two skeet fields. I shot my first 25 in skeet and have shot two more since.

To all the hat shooting comments. As far as I know tradition on the skeet or trap field is that your first 25 gets your hat shot as a trophy. In the skeet competitions throughout Ontario if you shoot your first 25, 50, 75 or 100 straight in competition they will want to shoot your hat.

That's how it is at our club, the hat gets shot on your first straight. I can say with pride one of my members is in search of a new hat after shooting his first straight at the Don Sullivan Memorial yesterday here in Moncton.

Source for shooting patches, or pins in Canada?
Does anyone know of a place in Canada that supplies or sells patches or pins for 25, 50, 75 and 100 straight?
This may have been posted before but I lost the link.
There are some available in the USA but I prefer l to stay in Canada for shipping, customs, etc.
The Windsor Sportsmen's Club is a casual shooting facility with trap and skeet but lately our members have improving to the point that we need to recognize their achievements.
Thanks folks.

Awards Canada was the place that made our pins. We had 25, 50, 75, and 100 pins made with our club name on them. We had 4 colour schemes made, one for each discipline, skeet, trap, Wobble trap and 5stand.

This allowed us to just use one die to keep cost down. Pm me a phone number and i can text a pic.

I have a fair number f patches and pins left in the trap&skeet cash box, because we haven't given one out in years. Our members are much older than most age wise, and most of us earned our patches many years ago, so long ago, that we have replaced our vests a time or two since then. As a result, you don't see many patches at our club. Our 90 year old member probably has the oldest vest at the club, and his has a 100 straight trap patch on it, although he has only shot skeet for years.
