I just picked up a bunch of 6.5mm projectiles to reload for my 6.5x55 Mauser. I am new to reloading and have never seen the lighter nickle?? color type on the right, no idea what they are. 6.5 diameter, 31.5mm long, 155gr. Darker than nickle, lighter than brass, just wondering what they are and if there is anything special about them. only got 48 of them.

Check and see if they are actually .264 The copper one's may be Sako and nickeled Norma ? I have a 1000 lot of the 156gr Sako bought from Higginson's for $9/100 back when the earth was flat.Great moose and everything smaller round.Harold

What powder do you have ? My standby load safe in all 6.5x55 's [ including 96 mausers] that goes through two moose and a fire hydrant is 42gr of IMR 4350 or the same N-204....156-160gr bullet............... i relaxed many moose with that load.Harold

Those silvery coloured ones are almost certainly old Norma bullets. I have used them in .308 and 7mm, they have a mild steel jacket and a plating of nickel alloy. If you want to check, put a magnet on them. It will be attracted to steel. They work OK for hunting, but are nothing special. I use mine for offhand practise and shooting targets.
