Strange green 7.62x39 ammo, is this corrosive?

If it's surplus and 7.62x39, it's most likely corrosive. Even if Norinco tell you it's non-corrosive, probably still corrosive.

Can you get a better picture of the head stamp of a few of the rounds? Be easier to identify...

Got everything all locked up now, but other than the 71, not much on the case head.

Thanks everyone, I am going to assume it's crappy old corrosive ammo.

I’m pretty sure it’s Czech ammo and yeah it’s corrosive

Edit I stand corrected and yeah that anno looks odd being green

Czech ammo is marked BXN and is almost always a grey steel case with a copper coloured bullet. All I can make out on the headstamp is a 71, which is either the Chinese factory using that number (though theirs is usually copper washed) or the year of production.
OP, it's definitely safe to assume it's corrosive. Worst case scenario your rifle just gets cleaned a little better.

Thanks guys, never seen this type before, used to copper washed corrosive or stamped Dominion bulk. I am scared and a little lazy when it comes to corrosive ammo.

Well if you're driving West I'll take that scary corrosive ammo off your hands :p

The corrosive ammo disposal site is at my place. For the next ten years, we have a free drop off. :p

Shoot it. Clean. Last swipe down the barrel on my guns is with Fluid Film.

Its eastern European green lacquered steel case and most likely corrosive. Chinese is all steel case copper washed or brass case with steel copper washed steel jacketed bullet or copper jacketed lead bullet. Russian laquored steel case with copper jacketed lead bullet. I have tons of the green stuff as it was common 20 years or more. ---Dieseldog!

Dieseldog is right, Likely Russian since most of the Romanian looking like that has red-stripe sealant on the bullet/case edge (tho G indicates he had some w/o stripe). Ganderite has a thread comparing many 'older' ammo types and their accuracy. The Russian was the 'best' with Romanian and Cz a close Second. I've used most of the CZ and just have a couple hundred Rom (I'm saving for the Z's); then down to Chinese. http s://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/776009-Range-Report-8-different-7-62x39 ( on page 7, I have a copy of G's target w/o the P-bucket logo/watermark - I hate PB for that, always where you want to see. I use Postimage)

Wow, lots of "expert" knowledge here that's absolutely wrong. As posted a couple of times above, that is 1000% Chinese, and 99.99% corrosive.
And to the OP, where did you get Dominion-made 7.62x39 ammo???

I assume it would be the stuff that Canada Ammo was (is...?) reloading in-house? (All currently Out of Stock though)

Berdan-primed steel cases? What's the headstamp? Are they simply reloads, or new ammo using imported components?
