Alright, here's how it went down. I decided it's time to fill a doe tag, so yesterday I went out looking for meat. I had a nice size doe come out into the field at about 150 yards. I had my shooting sticks set up, and was good and steady. The rifle is a Winchester 94 BB in .307, and I'm shooting the Barnes Triple Shock 150gr FP. At the shot, she leapt high into the air and kicked her back legs out. She ran into the bush, and I couldn't find any blood trail. It was nice and cold so I came back this morning with a couple friends. We found a bit of blood several hundred yards from where I hit her, but it was only a few spots and quickly dissappeared. We searched for hours without luck, and then noticed some crows and magpies collecting several hundered yards away. We went there, and found her. Upon cutting her up, I found the entry was on the left shoulder, an inch above the knuckle, smashing it and a rib on the way in, then exiting mid chest on the other side. Before skinning, I thought I'd hit her in the neck and exited really low on the opposite sides, as that's where the holes in the hide were. I'm thinking it must have moved and covered the holes, preventing bleeding. Both lungs were damaged, but not obliterated. In all, she ran about 700-800 yds, which really surprised me. Anyone know what might explain this? I've never had a deer take this kind of hit and make it more than 50-60 yds,so now I'm second guessing the bullet.
