I was in the West Kelowna no-sale and they had six SKS that had no paint or blueing and no lacquer, but oiled wood instead.
These were priced as supergrade and yes the numbers all matched, no ### on the stock (cartouches missing).
At a guess, they had been sand blasted to get the ruined coatings off, the metal was badly pitted in areas but the rust was
gone from deep down in the pits. All internal surfaces were heavily coated with dark crusty looking cosmoline.
I rather liked the way they looked! Looked as if they were from the old West 150 years ago. Anyone had a closer look at them?
